FAQ
We have answered our customers' most frequently asked questions about molecular hydrogen below.

What is Hydrogen Water?
Hydrogen water or hydrogen-rich water simply means normal water (H₂O) that contains dissolved hydrogen gas (H₂). Like carbonated water contains CO₂, hydrogen water contains H₂.
Doesn’t water already have hydrogen in it because water is H₂O?
Yes, but in H₂O the hydrogen is chemically bound to oxygen. For therapeutic benefits, we need free molecular hydrogen gas (H₂), not bound hydrogen.
Is hydrogen water alkaline?
Hydrogen water may be slightly alkaline depending on the device and source water, but its main benefit is from dissolved hydrogen, not from pH.
When was hydrogen’s therapeutic benefits first discovered?
First observed in 1798 for inflammation, but major interest began after a 2007 study published in Nature Medicine showed powerful antioxidant effects of hydrogen gas.
I thought that if water is “hydrogen rich”, then it must be acidic?
No – molecular hydrogen (H₂) is neutral. Confusion comes from H⁺ ions (protons), which are acidic. H₂ is a neutral gas dissolved in water.
Won’t any dissolved hydrogen gas immediately escape out of the water?
Hydrogen starts escaping immediately but not all at once. Like carbonation, it can remain in water for hours depending on storage and conditions.
Is hydrogen safe?
Yes. Hydrogen gas has been shown to be very safe even at high concentrations. It's also produced naturally by gut bacteria after eating fiber-rich foods.
What is the pH of hydrogen water?
Usually between 7.5–8.5, depending on water source and generator. It's slightly alkaline, but again, the benefit comes from dissolved H₂.
Don’t we get H₂ when we drink H₂O?
No. The hydrogen in H₂O is chemically bonded to oxygen and not available as molecular hydrogen (H₂) unless dissolved separately into the water.
Why is drinking hydrogen-rich water recommended?
Because hydrogen neutralizes harmful free radicals and helps reduce oxidative stress, which is linked to many health issues and aging.
Does hydrogen water taste different from normal water?
It may taste lighter, smoother, or “fresher” to some people, but generally it tastes like clean water.
Since hydrogen gas is so volatile, how can it stay dissolved in water long enough to offer any benefit?
Like carbonated water, hydrogen gradually escapes. That's why it's best to drink it fresh or store it in a sealed, full glass or metal container.
Can I drink hydrogen water instead of eating antioxidant foods?
No. Hydrogen water is a great complement, but you still need antioxidant vitamins and minerals from food for full nutrition.
What are the potential benefits of drinking hydrogen-rich water?
Studies suggest it may improve energy, reduce inflammation, support recovery, hydration, skin, and help reduce oxidative damage.
When will I start noticing the effects of hydrogen water?
Some people notice increased hydration and energy quickly. Other benefits, like reduced oxidative stress, may take weeks to appear.
Are there any calories in hydrogen water?
No, hydrogen water contains zero calories.
Can hydrogen water help me to lose weight?
It may support fat metabolism by reducing oxidation, but it’s not a weight loss solution by itself. Diet and exercise are key.
Is it possible to take an overdose of hydrogen-rich water?
No. Once water is saturated, excess hydrogen simply escapes. There’s no toxicity or overdose risk.
Can babies, pregnant women and the elderly drink hydrogen water?
Yes. Hydrogen water is natural and safe for all age groups with no known side effects or risks.
How much hydrogen water should I drink a day?
Even one glass is beneficial. Ideally, hydrogen water should make up part of your 2–3 liters of daily fluid intake.
